6th Grade Social Studies

Social Studies is off to a great start!

The first week we had an activity where they had to identify if the items provided and determine if they supported the claim that was provided to them. Students then had to write their statement of support or dissent and provide evidence to back their decisions. Given this was the first time we did an activity like this, the students did an amazing job!

Our second week we discussed archaeology and the tools archaeologists use to do their jobs. Students did an archaeological dig using toothpicks, paintbrushes, flashlights and chocolate chip cookies. The chips represent the artifacts they needed to dig out of the ground (the cookie). Students did a great job as archaeologists.

Learning is fun!

It's a birthday!
