STARTING OFF HEALTHY
Preparing for your student's health needs is a very important part of getting your child ready for school. Make sure your child is up to date on their immunization and physical exam requirements and that the school has a copy. Also, make sure that the school nurse and teachers know about any medical conditions that your child may have, such as food allergies, asthma, and diabetes, just to name a few. All students with a diagnosis of asthma need to have an Asthma Action Plan from their doctor on file with the school nurse. You will need to check with the nurse if your child should require medication to be given during the school day. Also remember to talk to the teachers about any condition that may affect how your child learns such as ADHD, vision problems, or hearing problems. Despite our best effort, information may not make it to our school from their last school. To ensure no health issues are missed please check with us to make sure we are aware of your child's needs. The schools have a lot of students to keep up with and it is easier for you, as the parent, to make sure that the school has this information. This is also safer for your child so no health issues are missed. Don't wait until the last minute or until something unfortunate happens and the school has to contact you.
