Today’s thankful Warriors are Evan Baird and Evelyn Thurston. Evan is really thankful for food because he would die without it. Evelyn is thankful for her pets Cookie, Mange, Lucy and Claire. She said they are so cute and she loves them so much!
Washington School is collecting non-perishable food items for our local food pantries! If you would like to donate, please send items to school with your child. Last year our school collected over 800 items, can we beat that record this year?!
The Washington Warriors being featured giving thanks today are Laykin Newbury and Hunter Tomasello. Laykin is thankful for her family because they take really good care of her. Hunter is thankful for his little sister. He said she is really cute and likes to play Legos with him.
Happy American Education Week to all of our staff! We appreciate everyone that helps make Washington the wonderful school it is for our students!
Next week we are celebrating both Kindness Week as well as American Education Week with spirit days, feel free to join us by dressing according to the themes!
Today we celebrated and honored our veterans by sharing in an assembly with PJHS. We recognized several veterans and thanked them for their service to our country. We heard a few essays read aloud to us by junior high students and listened to the PJHS band and chorus play. Mrs. Haan’s daughter shared her well written essay and her father, Mr. Potts, was honored and appreciated for his service.
We also received word early this morning that our soldiers have received our care packages for our soldier drive overseas just in time for this special day. They were very appreciative and said it was the best care package that they have gotten yet. Thanks again to all who contributed in any way to make this such a success!
Washington students and staff want to thank all of our veterans for the service and sacrifice they have provided us and our country. Happy Veteran’s Day!!
DJ Johnson and Camila Soto are the Washington Warriors giving thanks today. DJ is thankful for his dog, Lucy. Lucy gives him comfort and love. Camila is thankful for her family. She said that they do a lot for her and her siblings and take good care of them.
On this Thankful Thursday we have Washington Warriors Skyelyn Cosby and Ryder Mrozek. Skyelyn is thankful for Washington school because her teachers educate her and she gets to play with her friends at recess. Ryder is thankful for his family and his dog, Howl. Ryder said without his family he wouldn’t exist and Howl gives him all the entertainment he needs.
Today’s thankful Washington Warriors are Dixie Retoff and Carson Rathbun. Dixie is thankful for her mom because she is nice, takes care of her and loves her very much. Carson is thankful for his friends. He said that his friends lift him up when he is sad and they like to hang out with him and have fun.
Congratulations to our October students of the month! These students are commended for showing self control in and out of the classroom.

Pumpkin catapults were a big hit today! Students had fun creating their catapults with Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Fajardo in STEAM. We launched them to see how far we could make the pumpkins go, and then spent some time doing target practice into some containers on the floor. The smiles on their faces lets you know how much fun they had!
Our featured Washington Warriors today are Beth Studley and Easton Williams. Beth is very thankful for her home. She said that it keeps her warm and safe and she gets to spend time with her family in it. Easton is thankful for 5th grade basketball because it is super fun and he gets to play with his teammates.
Our Monday thankful Warriors are Zayden Zwahr and Ireland Brogan. Zayden is very thankful for his friends because they have been with him for a long time. Ireland is thankful for having a loving family that provides food and clothes and a roof to live under.
We have some exciting news here at Washington School! With all of your generous donations for our Soldier Drive, we were able to make over 50 care packages for our soldiers overseas. Each student in the school played a part to make this all happen. Some students wrote letters, colored pictures, decorated the packages, filled the bags, packed the boxes, etc. The packages were mailed out yesterday. We are hopeful they will get to the troop before Veterans Day!
A BIG thank you also needs to go to the Pontiac Elks Lodge 1019 for covering the cost of shipping all of the boxes. We also want to send a HUGE thank you to Nick Dohman at our local Pontiac @US Postal Service for all your help with getting these boxes ready to go and getting them in the mail!
We truly appreciate everyone's support because this would not have been possible without all of you!
Washington Staff are thankful for all of the 4th and 5th graders' hard work in the classroom and were proud to honor them yesterday at the first quarter awards ceremony. Thank you to the Kiwanis for always supporting our students’ achievement in the classroom and thank you to Dominoes for donating the pizzas for the party this quarter.
Ava Thompson and Brady Harms are Washington’s 4th and 5th grade students giving thanks today. Ava is thankful for her family because they take care of her and provide for all of her needs. Brady is thankful for sports because they are fun and exciting and they give him exercise.
Our two Warriors giving thanks today are Justyce Taylor and Lilah Vanover. Justyce is thankful for his cats Sam, Mauley and Miss Kitty because they are so cute! Lilah is thankful for her friends and family because she can trust them and they are so nice to her.
For the month of November our Washington Warriors would like to highlight things that they are thankful for. To start us off on the first day of November we have Merik Aaron and JaNae McClain. Both Merik and JaNae are very thankful for their mom and dad. Merik is thankful for his parents because they clean and cook for him and his siblings. JaNae is thankful for her mom because she covers her up when she is cold. She's thankful for her dad because he helps her get out of bed.
Washington Warrior staff are very thankful for all the families that donated to our soldier drive. Some 4th grade students bagged up items this morning to be shipped to soldiers overseas. We are very thankful for those soldiers that cannot be with their families right now because they are serving our country.
